About Luron

Hello, I'm Luron. Many people come to me feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of where to begin. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at iTrust Wellness, I care for individuals navigating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, behavioral health concerns, life transitions, and other challenges affecting their emotional well-being.

Military service and ministry

I joined the U.S. Army Reserve as a medic in 1989 and served a year of active duty during Operation Desert Storm. I attended Wofford College on an athletic and academic scholarship, where I was an Army ROTC cadet, and earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1994. I then began my active-duty career as an Army Engineer Officer.

After leaving active duty in 2002 and serving several more years in the Army Reserve and Individual Ready Reserve, I left service at the rank of Major and entered full-time ministry as a church administrator, music director, youth director, outreach director, and director of an addictions ministry.

Nursing and psychiatric training

Nursing came next. I earned my BSN from Armstrong Atlantic State University (now Georgia Southern at Savannah) in 2010 and worked as a patient care technician and registered nurse at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. I've also worked as an EMT, a neuro ICU step-down nurse, and a CCU-ICU nurse.

In 2011 I re-entered the Army Reserve as a medical-surgical nurse. I completed my MSN as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2019, earned board certification in 2020, and served as a Captain in the Army Reserve Nurse Corps as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner until retiring in 2023 after 24 total years of service.

My training and clinical experience include family and psychiatric medicine, medication administration, counseling, psychiatric assessments and evaluations, and patient education.

Conditions I treat

Today, I provide compassionate, individualized care through psychiatric evaluations, medication management, individual and family therapy, education, and collaboration with other providers. I treat ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD and intrusive thoughts, sleep-related mental health concerns, and substance use and addiction. I have a special interest in veterans and military mental health, men's mental health, spirituality, and racial, cultural, and identity-related mental health, including Black and African American mental health.

My approach

I have a deep commitment to serving others and to improving each person's health and well-being. I'm dedicated to listening and to helping you find balance through thoughtful psychiatric medication management. Together, we'll work to understand your experiences, manage your symptoms, develop effective coping strategies, and move toward a better quality of life. I see patients through iTrust Wellness for psychiatric evaluations and medication management, in person and by telehealth across South Carolina.
